plastic on asphalt mixes performance. ARPN Journal of Engineering and Applied

In this article, Ahmad conducted a study to evaluate the
performance of asphalt when waste plastic is incorporated. The main objective
is to determine the optimal amount of plastic that can be added into the
asphalt mix without compromising the integrity of the asphalt road. The author
uses data obtained by conducting two different lab test and analyse the data
using the 3D Move Analysis software, which was developed by the Asphalt
Research Consortium to simulate real-world road conditions. The study focuses
on how specific weight percentage of plastic waste aggerates affects the
rutting and top down and bottom up cracking of roads. The author draws the
conclusion that using 0.5% plastic waste of aggerates weight is most optimal
for in assisting the reduction of plastic waste without affecting the integrity
of the asphalt.
